“SETTLERS RUN. A DEVELOPMENT AS PICTURESQUE AS THE ADJOINING ROYAL BOTANIC GARDENS, CRANBOURNE”

UDIA JUDGES ON WINNING THE 2009 LANDSCAPING AWARD.

Settlers Run, a spectacular resort-style development built around a Greg Norman-designed championship golf course, has won the Landscape Award at the coveted UDIA (VIC) Awards.

“Medallist’s objective to create an exceptional residential development that complements the surrounding landscape has certainly paid off, with a development that is as picturesque as the adjoining Royal Botanic Gardens, Cranbourne” said the 2009 UDIA Judges.

The setting of Settlers Run is one of its most distinctive characteristics in the City of Casey, south-east of Melbourne. Located on undulating land with views to the city skyline and Dandenong Ranges, Medallist Developments went to great lengths to maintain and enhance the natural environment to create a picturesque landscape that has set the standard for future developments.

The special UDIA Judges’ Urban Green Landscaping Award recognises Settlers Run for displaying outstanding characteristics in regard to landscaping, including the nature and type of landscaping, the integration of existing native vegetation and the incorporation of new and innovative landscaping methods and ideas.

The development and the Greg Norman-designed championship golf course have been designed to work in harmony with the original landscape and flora and fauna features. When designing the course at Settlers Run, Greg Norman said, “We have the opportunity in making sure that the golf course enhances the development and the development enhances the golf course”.

As a result, his golf course design involved minimal landscaping and earth moving, and the course integrates stunning established trees and historical farming equipment as focal points.

Nicholas Stabb, General Manager of Medallist (VIC), said “Several historical features, such as a windmill on the third and a hay-bailing machine on the second, as well as a clever use of rustic fence posts reflect the site’s grazing past”.

With the golf course covering over 85 hectares of Settlers Run, its landscape sets the tone for the rest of the development. Medallist also worked with its neighbour, the Royal Botanic Gardens Cranbourne, to ensure native flora and fauna featured throughout and that there was a seamless blend at the border of the development.

“At Settlers Run our spectacular landscaping has been a major drawcard. It not only creates a picturesque living environment, it also holds hidden benefits including water sensitive urban design and environmental sustainability, which has been applauded by visitors and residents alike” said Nicholas Stabb.

With such extensive green space, stunning landscaping, and a focus on retaining natural flora and fauna, residents can enjoy a picture perfect view at every turn.

Settlers Run also features a $10 million Golf & Country Club with a 25 metre indoor pool, spa, sauna, day/night tennis courts, gym, bar/bistro, and the restaurant Vue at Settlers Run. It is perfectly positioned to allow residents and visitors to enjoy spectacular views over the development and through to the city skyline and Dandenong Ranges.

This boutique 500 home masterplanned community offers large land and house and land packages. As a resident you’ll enjoy access to all the facilities at the Golf & Country Club, plus two golf playing rights (valued at $10,000).

Medallist Developments is a joint venture between Greg Norman’s Great White Shark Enterprises and Macquarie Group Limited.
